WHAT ARE MICROGREENS?
We get asked this a lot at our farmers markets-- and we’re happy to share with you how microgreens differ from sprouts and full-sized vegetables!
Microgreens are the shoots or seedlings of vegetable plants that have been grown for just 14-17 days-- and they’re more nutrient-dense than full-sized vegetables as a result. These tiny plants are super rich in vitamins and other essential nutrients…and unlike sprouts, microgreens are actually grown in soil!
The organic microgreens at AZ-Ranch are grown in rich soil crafted right here on our own family farm under the beautiful California sun because we’re firm believers in keeping our products and processes as natural as possible. In fact, we feed our flock of ducks our leftover microgreens and then compost their manure, making for natural, sustainable soil for our organic microgreens to grow in!
We grow our microgreens in a special greenhouse to create the perfect climate for them to grow in year round-- so you can benefit from these nutrient-dense, healthy little plants even during our colder months!
